12 Days Of Christmas: Day 12 - Gift Card Scallop Envelope

On the 12th day of Christmas my SU Demo taught me...

How to make how to make a scallop envelope to fit a gift card for someone lucky!

Finally its day 12!!!  I hope you all have been enjoying my tutorials.  I also hope that they can be of good use to you as you finish up your holiday preparations.

Today's Tutorial will hopefully help you with wrapping your gift cards.

Supplies:

Big Shot
Scallop Envelope Die
6x6 piece of DSP of your choice, and a few scraps of dsp
Coordinating Cardstock
scrap piece of Whisper White
Coordinating Ribbon
sticky strip
scissors
paper trimmer
scallop circle punch
1 1/4" Circle Punch
1 3/8" Circle Punch
to/from stamp from Punch pals
Dimensionals

Directions:

1.  Fold your dsp in half and line up the fold on the scallop envelope die, counting from the right 4 1/2 scallops over, you want your fold to line up very straight with the envelope die, ***TIP, you could use a ruler to check the distance from the edge of die to the folded edge of the dsp.

I took a photo of the top of the die, with the left over piece of dsp so that you could see better the scallops and where to line your dsp up. Click on the photo to enlarge

2.  Fold open your scalloped envelope, at this point if you wanted to, ***TIP, you could take a paper piercing tool and push in the dashed lines so that they all face the same way when you are looking at the outside of the envelope

3.  Fold in the sides of the scallop envelope

4.  Fold up the bottom of the envelope and adhere it to the side tabs

5.  The gift card will fit in nicely to this envelope.

6.  Close the gift card and using a strip of dsp 5 1/2" long and approx 2" wide.  use sticky strip to adhere it around the scallop envelope as a belly band, this will also help hide the fold that was created in extending the envelope.

7.  Wrap a length of ribbon around the belly band, tie it and trim the ends.

   

8.  Punch a scallop circle out of the coordinating cardstock

9.  Punch a 1 3/8" Circle out of dsp, i used the same dsp as the envelope

10.  Adhere this circle to the scallop circle

   

11.  Stamp your to/from image on a scrap piece of white cardstock

12.  Using the 1 1/4" Circle Punch, punch out the words, you want to make them off to one side so that you have room to write

13.  Adhere this to the scallop circle

   

14.  Add some dimensionals to the back of the scallop circle.

15.  Add this to your belly band just under the ribbon.

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 11 - The Better, Longer Stocking Stuffer

On the 11th day of Christmas my SU Demo taught me...

How to make a longer and better, longer stocking stuffer for someone lucky

Ok so, before I start this one, I have to say that when creating day 9 for you this was my intention in the first place, to make a pillow box full of crayons for someones stocking, not realizing that the pillow box is way shorter then crayons!! So short of braking the crayons off, or melting them down (which I dont think I have an old pot to do that in) to make christmas shaped crayons that would fit in the pillow box, this is what I came up with...

I hope you like it.

Supplies:

5 1/2"x8 1/2" Piece of Acetate
Big Shot Machine
Pillow Box Die
Ribbon
Rope Cord
DSP
Cardstock
Stazon White Ink
Stamp of your choice
Punch of your choice
Sticly Strip
1/8" Punch
Bone Folder

Directions:

1.  Fold the piece of acetate in half just as you would to make it a card, using your bone folder to easily crease it.

2.  Measure the object that you would like to wrap in the pillow box, the maximum length that can be put in the pillow box is approx. 5 1/2", for the crayons I needed about 4".  You will be halfing this number to decide where the pillow box will sit on the die.  If you want the pillowbox to be the maximum length, then you would line up the fold of your acetate to the rounded score lines on the pillow box die, in this case i have measured 2 inches from one of the rounded score lines across the pillow box 2" and that is where i lined up my score line. (Click on the photo to see more detail)

3.  Run this through your Big Shot machine

4.  Because you will be putting a belly band on the pillow box to disguise the fold in the middle you do not need to stamp all over the pillow box, so stamp the edges with your image and the stazon white ink.

5.  Use your bone folder to crease the pillow box lines just as we did on day 9.

   

6.  Run a length of sticky strip along the short pieces edge, and adhere to the other edge.

7.  Put a short piece of sticky strip on one end of the pillow box and use your bone folder to help adhere that edge together.

8.  Fill the box with the contents, in this case 8 crayons.

9.  Wrap a length of ribbon around the pillow box to secure the open end closed.  Trim the ends of your ribbon

10.  Cut a piece of cardstock to fit in the middle as a belly band, in this case i used a 2 1/2"x5" piece of cardstock. 

11.  Use some sticky strip to close the belly band around the pillow box.

12.  You can also do the same with a strip of DSP, in this case cut at 2"x5".  And again close it around the pillow box using a piece of sticky strip.

13.  Stamp your image or sentiment, and punch it out with your choice of punch.

14.  Punch a hole in the top of the tag using the 1/8" punch

15.  Cut a length of rope cord and split off 1 strand from the 3 strands.

16.  Feed it through the tag and then one end under the ribbon, tie it in a knot, and trim the ends.

17.  Adjust the tag so that it is under the ends of the ribbon and you are done.

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 10 - Paper Wreath

On the 10th day of Christmas, my SU Demo taught me...

How to make a paper wreath, simply

 

Supplies:

DSP of your choice
piece of coordinating cardstock
snail adhesive
sticky strip
chipboard
bigshot
scallops die
paper trimmer
corner rounder
bone folder
Stamp set of your choice
1 3/4" circle Punch
Dimensionals
Rope Cord
Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive

Directions:

1.  with 1 12x12 sheet of DSP, cut 12 1" strips

2.  cut those strips at 6" and 4"

   

3.  Round the corners of 1 end of each of the strips

   

4.  Using the scallops #2 die (the larger of the 2 scallops on the die) and the big shot, cut out 1 piece of chipboard and one piece of coordinating cardstock.  And adhere them together, ***TIP you can also adhere them together before you run it through the bigshot machine.

    

5.  Run a strip of adhesive around the scallop circle as close to the scallops as possible to leave room in the middle.  Starting with the 6" Strips start by laying 1 strip down.

6.  Then lay one opposite to the first one.

7.  Then lay one perpendicular to the first 2

8.  After you lay the next strip opposite from the last strip you laid, then using 2 strips in each empty area, fill in the rest of the circle.

   

9.  Run some adhesive close to the end of all of the strips, but not into the circle created by the first layer

10.  Now using the 4" strips, lay them down one at a time staggered from the first layer. all the way around

  

11.  Run another strip of glue at the edge of the last layer, and start laying the 2: pieces down, again staggered from the last layer, the 2" layer should approx. match the first layer.

   

12.  Using your bone folder and starting at the 2" strips run the strip between your thumb and the bone folder to curl it.

    

13.  do the same with the 4" strips with your bone folder, guiding the curled strips to sit nicely with the first set of curls.

   

14.  And finally do the same with the 6" Strips.

15.  Run some tombo multi adhesive around the edge of the circle created by the strips in the middle.

16.  Cut a piece of rope for the middle and lay it in the glue, remember it will dry clear, so if you get a little more then needed on there you wont see it after.

17.  Turn the wreath over and lay 2 strips of sticky strip on the back as shown

18.  Cut a piece of cord that fits along those strips and makes a loop at the top to hang your wreath from.  Using a scrap piece of dsp or regular computer paper, lay down 2 strips on this piece.

19.  Peel off the red protective layer on the scrap strip and form it around the rope cord and adhere it to the back of the chipboard, this will help to secure the rope cord to the wreath.

   

20.  Stamp your image on a scrap piece of shimmery white cardstock, and punch it out using the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. Put some dimensionals on the back of this.

21.  Adhere it to the center of the wreath.

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 9 - Stocking Stuffer

On the 9th Day of Christmas my SU Demo Taught me...

How to make a Stocking Stuffer filled with Candy!

Supplies:

Acetate Sheet
Cute & Curly Stamp Set
Curly Label Punch
1 1/4" Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla Striped Ribbon
Rope Twine
Christmas Classics Stamp Set
Candy of your choice, I used 3 Chocolate Nuggets
Sticky Strip
Scissors
Bone Folder
Big Shot
Pillow Box Die
Premium Crease Pad
White Stazon Ink
Riding Hood Red Classic Ink
Scrap Piece of Shimmery White Cardstock
1/4" Circle Punch

Directions:

1.  Cut your piece of acetate to 5"x5 1/2"

2.  Stamp your image all over on the acetate using the White Stazon Ink, and either let dry or use your heat gun for a few seconds to dry the images.

  

3.  Make a Big Shot sandwich consisting of (from bottom to top) 1 Cutting Pad, 2 shims from the Premium Crease Pad set, Pillow Box Die, Acetate Sheet - Image up, Black Crease pad from the Premium Crease Pad Set

4.  Run this sandwich through your Big Shot Machine

5.  Use your bone folder to make the fold lines stay in the pillow box, **TIP hold up the pillow box towards lite to see where the fold line is, or use a black piece of cardstock under where you are folding to make the lines stick out some.

6.  around the ends just fold the score lines with your fingers so they stay.

7.  Place sticky strip along the fold of the tab along the side of the box.

8.  Attach this to the edge of the other side of the box to seal this edge.

9.  Put a little bit of sticky strip on one short edge, you dont need to do this to both ends, just one to help you keep your contents contained in the box while you finish the steps.

10.  Use your bone folder again this time insert the blunt end inside the pillow box and use it to help you seal the edge that you just put sticky strip on.

11.  Add your candy to the pillow box.

12.  With approx 20" of ribbon wrap it length wise around the pillow box with the ends meeting at the top and tie it, making sure that the end that is not sealed closes as you tie the box.

13.  Tie a second knot over the first to secure the ribbon onto the pillow box.

   

14.  Folding your ribbon in half length wise, cut the ribbon at an angle to make the v shape ends on the ribbon, do this to both ends.

15.  Stamp the Christmas Image from the Cute & Curly Set, and punch it out with the curly label Punch.

   

16.  Punch a hole in the corner of the label that you just created

17.  With about 5" of the rope twine, feed it through the hole in the label and then one end under the ribbon on your pillow box, tie it with a single knot, and trim the ends.

  

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 8 - Shaker Ornament

On the 8th Day of Christmas, my SU Demo taught me

How to make a shaker Ornament for my tree

Supplies:

On Board Lots of Letters (use the 3 Circle Frames on the bottom of the italic letters, or you may use any chipboard shapes as long as they are closed like a square or a circle, and there are 3 of the exact shape. The On-Board Something Seasonal is a great one too)
Sticky Strip
Craft Ink
Ribbon of your choice
Acetate
Coluzzle System
Scrap piece of paper
Basic Black Ink
Markers
Bead Duo in the color of your choice

Directions:

1.  If you are using the circles that I used, you will be able to use the coluzzle system to cut out the acetate circle. Line up the circle on the top of the coluzzle to figure out which lines to cut with.  If you are using any other shape, use that shape to cut out the acetate to fit the chipboard piece.

2.  Using the craft ink directly to the chip board cover the chipboard piece on one side.  Let it dry, or use a heat gun to dry the chipboard.

3.  using sticky strip line the other side of the circle, the sticky tape will bend around the circle, but if you dont want to do it that way you can cut little pieces and attach them to the circle.

4.  Add the acetate to this piece by taking off the red liner and attaching the acetate.

5.  Put sticky strip on another circle and make a sandwich with the acetate between the two circles.

6.  Put sticky strip around the last circle, if you are using small images you can attach this chipboard piece to the scrap piece, but if you are going to use larger images like trees, or something that takes up more then usable area in the circle you want to wait to attach the chipboard to the scrap piece of white.

7.  Stamp your image into the center of the piece.

8.  Color the images if you wish.

9.  Using the larger beads of the bead duo add some beads into the circle that you just adhered to your cardstock to.

10. Add the sandwiched pieces of chipboard and acetate using sticky strip to the top of the piece that is attached to the cardstock to enclose the beads.

11.  Trim the excess cardstock from around the circle and wrap the outside of the circle with sticky strip.

12.  Using the ribbon of your choice start at the bottom of the ornament and work your way to the top of the ornament on one side.

13.  Make a loop with your yarn, this will become the hanging loop for the ornament, continue working around the ornament with the ribbon, and cut it once it joins the starting end of the ribbon.

14.  Use a second piece of ribbon to tie at the top of the ornament, this will keep the loop of ribbon from pulling away from the ornament if it is tugged on.

***Note: You can also do this with just 2 pieces of chipboard, but you would use the smaller micro beads, you would also skip step 5.

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 7 - Ceramic Stamped Ornament

On the 7th day of Christmas my SU Demo taught me

How to decorate a ceramic ornament for my tree

 

Supplies

1 flat ceramic Ornament, (You can find these at Michaels)
Craft Ink of your choice of colors
Stamps of your choice
Heat Gun
Clear Embossing powder
Glassy Glaze Enamel ( I mixed 1 part clear embossing powder with 1 part glassy glaze enamel for this, i found it worked a bit better)
Ribbon
Versamark

Directions:

1.  Ink up one stamp of your choice with craft ink in the color of your choice. And stamp in onto the ornament where you want it.  **TIP: if you make a mistake the images come off super easy with a baby wipe.

2.  Use your heat gun to make sure that all of the images are dry, do the same with all of your other images stamp first then dry with your heat gun, if you are stamping over top of other images it is a good idea to dry the bottom layer of ink with your heat gun in between layers of stamping, like in the ornament above, there are blue snowflakes on top of the brown tree.

3.  You can also use ink directly on the ceramic ornament to decorate the edge of the ornament this is an optional step, but if you wanted to do it just tilt your craft pad at an angle and tap it on the edges of the ornament

4.  Now make sure that all of the images and the edges of your ornament are dry, your craft ink will turn from shiny to opaque when it is dry.  **TIP: if using any shade of red including Bravo Burgundy leave your ornament to dry longer as it seems to transfer and smudge alot easier then any of the other colors.

5.  Using Versamark, cover the whole ornament with it making sure that if you inked the edges that you versamark the edges as well.

6.  Using your clear embossing powder, or glassy glaze enamel or the 1 to 1 mixture of both pour it over your ornament and shake off the excess.

7.  Heat up your embossing powder to activate it, and when it is all clear and not too bumpy set your ornament aside to cool off.

8.  Tie a ribbon to the top and hang on your tree.

another way to make these are adding 1 part iridescent ice and 1 part glassy glaze enamel

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 6 - 3D Ornament Card

How to make a Ornament card in 3D

Well, here I am again, another great tutorial, for you!!

Supplies

6x6 Piece of Whisper White Scored at 3"
1 3/4" Circle Punch
3/4" Circle Punch
Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set
Black Marker
Old Olive Classic Ink
Baja Breeze Classic Ink
Season Of Joy Stamp Set
Old Olive Marker
Sponge
DSP of Your Choice
Snail Adhesive

Directions:

1.  With the 1 3/4" Punch, Punch out a hole in the 6x6 piece of whisper white, if you push the punch all the way onto the paper it will punch it in the center of one of the 2 sides of the 3" score mark.  You also want to punch higher in the card so that there is enough room for your sentiment.

2.  Using your sponge and Baja Breeze Classic Ink, sponge in a circle in the area that will show through the punched circle when the card is closed.

3.  Using the 3/4" punch, and the DSP, punch out 12 circles, they can be all the same, or different, you want 2 groups of 6 of them to match in some sort of way to make 2 ornaments

4.  Score all of the pieces down the center and fold them in half

5.  Using your snail adhesive, glue one side of the folded circle to another folded circle until all 6 are connected on 1 side and they make a flat stack.

6.  Fold open the stack.

7.  Close up the card so that when you place the ornament it will fit into the circle on the front of the card.

8.  At this point you can draw a string for the ornament, or you can also wait to do this until you have stamped the tree part

9.  Repeat all the steps necessary to complete a second ornament and glue it onto the card, adding a string to it as well.

10.  Ink you the Tall Pine Tree from Lovely as a Tree, and stamp it sideways at the top of the inside of the card, this makes it look like a branch instead of a tree.

 

11.  Sponge the edges of the front of the card even the circle by rubbing ink with a sponge from off the card, to towards the card so that you are not getting too much ink on the card, just highlighting the edges.

   

12.  Ink the Sentiment image stamp from Season of Joy with Baja Breeze, then take your old olive marker and color over the spots that you want to be Old Olive.

   

13.  Huff on the stamp to make it moist again, and then stamp it on the lower portion of the front of the card.

   

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 5 - Poinsettia Gift Tag

Supplies:

5 Petal Flower Punch & Ticket Corner Punch
Gold Brads & Gold Elastic Cord
1/2" Circle Punch & 1/8" Punch

Stylus
Riding Hood Red Cardstock
Old Olive Cardstock
Real Red Classic Ink
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink
Old Olive Classic Ink
Gold Embossing Powder

1 Swirly type stamp from either Priceless or Season of Joy

Directions:

1.  Punch out 2 5-Petal Flowers in Riding Hood Red Cardstock and 1/2" Circle in Old Olive

 

2.  Using a sponge working from off the flower in a towards the flower motion sponge the edge of the flower with Real Red Classic Ink, do this for both flowers.  Let these dry for a minute or two, or use the heat gun to dry them as the edges may be a bit wet, and may transfer onto the foam pad in step 4.

 

3.  Using either a different sponge or the other end of the sponge you used for the flowers sponge the edges of the 1/2" Circle piece with Chocolate Chip

 

4.  Turn the flower over so that there is no ink on the side that us up onto the mat from the Crafters Tool Kit and using your stylus, shape the petals only of a flower, to do this work in a U or n shape around the petal edge, not to close to the edge but about 1/8" from the edge, and work your way into the center of the petal applying a liberal amount of pressure while doing this.  Do this for each petal around on both flowers.

 

5.  Now turn the flower over, and using the stylus again, you will work in a spiral motion from where the petals meet the inside of the flower all the way to the center of the flower to make the center indent. Do this on both flowers

 

6.  Now layer both flowers with the 1/2" Circle on top and poke a hole with your piercing tool in the center.

 

7.  Place a brad in that hole to secure the flowers and the center together. Set aside.

 

8.  Cut your tag bases, 1, 4"x2 1/2" Old Olive piece of Cardstock and 1, 4 1/4"x2 3/4" Riding Hood Red piece of Cardstock.  Use the ticket corner punch on each of the corners of both pieces.

    

9.  Sponge the edges of the Old Olive piece with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink, and the edges of the Riding Hood Red Piece with Real Red Classic Ink

 

10.  Ink up the background that you will use with chocolate Chip Classic Ink, and place your cardstock on the corner of the background stamp, you want this to be sort of random, using several of the corners to add your background image to the tag in random places. (hope that makes sense..lol)

    

11.  Use the spirally stamp that you picked out and Old Olive ink and layer that in random spots to the tag.

 

12.  Using Versamark Ink, stamp your sentiment in the lower right hand corner.  **TIP - wait for your tag to dry before doing this step, or use your heat gun to dry it, so that the background images don't pick up embossing powder accidentally like mine did.

 

13.  Use Gold Embossing Powder, and your heat tool to emboss your sentiment

  

14.  Adhere your Old Olive Piece to the Riding Hood Red piece.

 

15.  Place a dimensional on the back of the poinsettia and add it to the tag.  And then using your 1/8" punch, make a hole in the upper right corner and add elastic cord to tie it to your gift.

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 4 - Money Holder/Card

On the 4th day of Christmas my SU Demo taught me

How to make a card that holds Money!

Giving Cash or a cheque to a loved one this year?  Well let me help you dress it up!

Supplies:

Scallop Square Punch
1 - piece of chocolate Chip cardstock cut to 1 3/4"x1 3/4"
1 - scrap piece of whisper white
1 - 6 3/4"x8 1/2" piece of Old Olive
1 - 6 3x4"x2" piece of DSP
1 - 6 3/4"x2 7/8" piece of DSP
Sticky Strip
Snail Adhesive
Dimensionals
13 1/2" of Ribbon (I used Chocolate Chip double stitched Grosgrain Ribbon)
Paper Trimmer with scoring blade or stylus tool
Punches Three Hostess Stamp Set
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink

1.  Scoring along the 8 1/2 edge, score at 3" and 6"

2.  in the smallest section of the cardstock, you will score a little mark about 1" from the 6" score mark, and then turn it around and score on the other edge about 1" from the edge, then using those little marks as your guide cut the piece at a diagonal. This will be folded up inside the card.

 

3.  Adhere the 6 3/4"x2" piece of DSP to the front 3x6 3/4" side of the card

4.  Decide where you will put your stamped image on the front of the card, this is where the ends of your ribbon will meet so that the join is hidden, suing snail adhesive run a strip from that point to the end of the card, place your ribbon on that adhesive to secure it to the card.

5.  Turn the card over and run a strip of adhesive along the back of the card where your ribbon will lay, and fold over the ribbon onto that strip.

6.  Turn the card over once more, adding adhesive where the remainder of the ribbon will lay and fold over the ribbon onto that strip of adhesive so that it meets up with the start of the ribbon.

  

7.  Using the scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, stamp your image and punch it out using the square scallop punch

  

8.  Mount this image on the 1 3/4"x1 3/4" piece of chocolate chip cardstock

9.  Adhere 4 dimensionals onto the back of the stamped image pieces.

10.  A little tip to get the backing off of the dimensional simply press down on it with the end of your finger/fingernail and it will slightly lift and give you something to grab onto.

11.  Adhere the stamped image to the front of the card over top of where your ribbon joins.

12.  Adhere the 6 3/4"x2 7/8" piece of DSP to the inside back panel of the card.  I did this with Sticky strip instead of snail adhesive so that when the flap is adhered it is less likely to pull away from the card.

13.  Use sticky strip on both short ends of the flap to adhere it to the card, make sure to put it very close to the edge so that the money has some wiggle room.

   

14.  Take off the red strip to expose the adhesive and fold over onto the DSP portion of the card.

15.  Insert money, you can used the slanted strip of cardstock that is exposed to write something nice and use our Small Open Ended Envelopes to give it to someone special!

12 Days Of Christmas: Day 3 - Punchy Santa

On the 3rd day of Christmas my SU! Demo taught me

How to make a Santa using some Punches!

 

Supplies:

1/4" Circle Punch
1 1/4" Circle Punch
1 3/8" Circle Punch
Scallop Circle Punch
Scallop Square Punch
Large Star Lunch
Adhesive
Scissors
Rose Red Ink or Pastels
Sponge Dauber
Basic Black Marker
Scraps of:
    -Whisper white
    -Blush Blossom
    -Riding Hood Red

1.  Punch out:
        - 1, whisper white scallop circle
        - 1, whisper white scallop square
        - 1, 1/4" whisper white circle
        - 1, 1/4" Blush Blossom circle
        - 1, Riding Hood Red Star
        - 1, 1 3/8" Blush Blossom Circle

2.  Using the 1 1/4" punch out a section of the scallop circle.  This will be his beard, set aside

  

3.  Holding the section that you just punched out of the scallop circle, the piece that you would normally discard, it so that there are 2 full scallops between 2 partial scallops as seen below (you can click on the photo to see it larger).  This is his mustache

4.  Put the scallop square back into the scallop square punch just until 2 scallops show on each side as pictured below, if you have trouble positioning it into the punch adhere it slightly to a scrap piece of printer paper to give you something to hold onto while guiding it into the right place.

5.  Cut off one point of the star with your scissors

6.  Then flip it around to cut off another point, making it kind of look like an arrow head

7.  Using Rose Red ink or Pastels, and a sponge dauber sponge a little color onto the 1 3/8" Blush Blossom Circle.  sponging a bit on one side and then the other like cheeks.  If you are using pastels remember to blow on it a little to get rid of the excess pastel dust

  

8.  Attach the beard piece to the face piece you just sponged

9.  Attach the mustache to the beard and a little onto the face, then attach the little 1/4" blush blossom circle slightly on the beard and slightly on the face

10.  Attach the now rectangle scallop piece to the top of the each just so that it is over a tiny bit of the beard on each side.

11.  Attach the arrow/star piece underneath all of this so that its width stretches across atleast 3 of the scallops on the rectangle piece.  (at this point you could use him as a knome face...lol)

12.  Fold over about 1/4" of the tip of the hat over to one side(click on the photo to see it better)

13.  Attach the 1/4" whisper white circle to the tip that you folded over.

14.  Add your Punchy Santa to a card, or a tag or what ever you wish!!
